In this episode Jason chats with Mike Miller. Their conversation explores the journey of co-pastoring a new church with his wife and family. Miller points out that often the toughest challenges in life are the most rewarding. He applies this principle to his experience in ministry and the calling he received to start Nova Church in Halifax. Their plant has been growing over the past five years and, as he notes in this interview, they have been both the richest and the hardest years of his life and ministry.

For Nova Church, calling always trumps comfort. They will move venues, change service times, and inconvenience Christians to reach people far from God. Their dream is to lovingly invade every aspect of culture — to be influencers in the manner of Biblical figures like Esther, Joseph and Daniel. The church Miller envisions is not just a refuge from culture, but a launching pad into culture.

To activate this type of calling as a church they need everyone to do their part. As such, this interview also speaks to creating a volunteer culture that is life-giving and rallies around the person of Jesus and the churches call to reach people far from God.
