Kevin Myers, Founding Pastor of 12 Stone Church in Georgia, is interviewed this week by Brent Ingersoll of Kings Church in Atlantic Canada. As a veteran leader of one of the largest churches in America, Kevin has an acute understanding of the challenges of senior leadership and the many seasons a leader might walk through. He shares with Brent some of his insights on what pastors might be experiencing on the back-end of this pandemic and how we should be framing this moment in light of history.

Revival, Kevin says, is often equal to the measure of decline. When we look around and feel that culture is spiraling, that division is widening, and that anxiety is rising, we can hold on to hope in God’s goodness. Our hope shouldn’t manifest as just an optimism to hide our own fears though, but a steadfast clinging to the promises of God and a desire to see an outpouring of His Spirit. Usually, revival happens to a church before it comes through a church. So as Pastors, how are we preparing ourselves and our people for that?

Never assume we dream bigger than God. Nobody is out-envisioning, out-loving, out-maneuvering God.
— Kevin Myers

They go on to explore how this might be a time to return to the basics of our faith. It seems as though definitions are changing and people talk past each other more than to each other. What this requires then is a re-learning of the foundations like the Apostles Creed or the Nicene Creed. Kevin shares about how that’s exactly what their church is doing right now!

Kevin ends with an encouragement to keep being fed by the Holy Spirit and to remember that we can not dream bigger than our God. His vision is higher than ours and even when we feel unsure of what he is doing, we can focus on what He’s given us to do: make disciples.

We hope you enjoy the conversation with Kevin Myers hosted by Brent Ingersol who is part of our Pastoral Advisory Team.
